12. What is the guarantee?
1. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET THE SHINE BACK
ON MY BATHTUB?
If you have attempted to clean the
finish with normal household cleaners,
and it is still stained and or dirty, the
usual cause is that the surface glaze has
been sanded or etched by harsh chemicals
and/or abrasive cleansers. Because of
this, there is nothing you can do to
restore the shine yourself.
2. WHAT ABOUT OTHER PAINTS OR
COATINGS?
Perma Ceram is a patented process and is
not, an Epoxy, Urethane,Paint, etc., nor
does it contain Toluene Disocyanate
(TDI). The Perma Ceram process has been
fully tested and approved by the Federal
Drug Administration(and other agencies)
and has been found to be fully safe,
non-carcinogenic, and non-toxic for the
well being of all concerned. In view of
this information, we suggest you be
extremely cautious of any unknown
porcelain resurfacing material.
3. JUST WHAT IS PERMA CERAM?
Perma Ceram is a patented, confidential
formula and process that has the same
molecular structure and makeup as that of
porcelain manufactured today. PERMA CERAM
meets all the U.S. Dept. of Commerce
requirements (Commercial Standard 77-63)
by which all new bathtub are
manufactured.
4. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PERMA
CERAM MY BATHTUB?
Normally three to five hours. All work
is done in the fixtures area, and there
is no mess for you to clean up. Most of
the time is spent conditioning the old
bathtub.
5. ARE THERE ANY BAD ODORS FROM THE
PROCESS?
No. If the bathroom has a window, all
odors are exhausted through the window.
If there is not a window in the room , an
adjoining window is used to vent odors
using a blower system. With just the
bathroom fan (no window) some slight odor
may occur during the process, but
dissipates in just a few hours.
6. CAN YOU DO JUST THE BOTTOM OF MY
BATHTUB?
No. In reglazing , the idea is to start
and end the process outside the water
area. This prevents the possibility of
water seeping under the new finish.
7. DO YOU CHANGE ANY OF THE PLUMBING
FIXTURES?
No. Plumbing problems such as leaks,
broken or loose fixtures, must be
resolved before the bathtub is
refinished.
8. WHEN REDECORATING MY BATHROOM,
SHOULD I HAVE MY BATHTUB REGLAZED
FIRST?
No. Do all other work first, such as
flooring, papering , painting, etc.
Accidents could happen that can damage
the newly finished surface.
9. HOW LONG BEFORE I CAN USE THE
BATHTUB AGAIN?
You can use your bathtub in 12hrs.! The
new finish will continue to cure (harden)
for several months; however, this poses
no problems or unlimited restrictions to
normal usage of the bathtub.
10. HOW LONG CAN I EXPECT THE PERMA
CERAM FINISH LAST?
With normal care and proper cleaning,
your new Perma Ceram finish will last for
many years. Peeling or flaking is the
concern for most. This condition is
caused by trapping moisture under the
glaze during the process, and, if
present, will occur within 30 to 90 days
after reglazing. Your 5-year guarantee
affords you ample protection against this
unlikely possibility.
11. ARE THERE SPECIAL CLEANERS I
SHOULD USE ON MY PERMA CERAM
FINISH?
One of the advantages of the Perma Ceram
process is that it is easier to clean
than before because it is now non-porous.
No more ring around the tub! Your Perma
Ceram surface should be cleaned with
non-abrasive liquid cleaners only.
Cleaners such as Lysol Tub & Tile
Cleaner, Dow, 409, etc. are acceptable.
We suggest that you do not use abrasive
cleansers such as: Ajax, Comet, Bon Ami,
Scrub free. These act like sandpaper and
do scratch.
12. WHAT IS THE GUARANTEE?
Your guarantee appears on the work order
and is signed by the technician at the
time of completion. It reads: "The Perma
Perma Ceram bathtub finish is guaranteed
against flaking, peeling, sagging, and
crazing for 5 full years and has a life
expectancy of over 10 years. Perma Ceram
is not guaranteed against man-made
damage".
